Wonderland Crafts FLW-069 Colorful Facades is the shortest project of the street pieces and still ends as a complete standing scene: three joined façades on a cobbled base, with a carved street lamp at one end and a small dog waiting at the kerb at the other. The middle house is blue with a steep gable, the two flanking it are yellow, all three under a brown mansard roof, with lit windows, flowering bushes along the pavement and bare trees behind. It is a counted cross stitch kit on laser-cut plywood — a single cut panel with the stitch holes already drilled, plus separate wooden parts for the lamp, the dog and the paving, so there is nothing to hoop and nothing to frame.

Working on Plywood

Only 41 stitches tall, so the detail is packed in tight — and that is exactly where a drilled grid earns its keep, because the window bars and roof edges sit where the chart puts them without any measuring on your part. The count is 14, ordinary Aida density, which keeps the holes findable even in the crowded sections. Twenty shades for sixty stitches across is a dense palette: the yellows and blues of the walls take a handful each, and the rest go into the roof, the greenery and the pink of the flowering shrubs, so almost every colour appears in a small area rather than a large block. Single-sided design — the reverse stays open while you stitch, gets faced with the felt or foam included, and then the panel slots into the base.

Unlike fabric work, the finished piece must stay dry. Do not wash, soak or steam it — plywood warps and the surface tint can stain. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it away from damp spots such as bathrooms and window sills.

The smallest stitch count of the street designs, so it is the quickest way into the series and still finishes as something that stands up on a shelf. Nothing about it is seasonal, so it stays out all year, and the dog on the pavement makes it an easy gift for a French bulldog owner.
