Wonderland Crafts Wooden Cross Stitch Kit FLW-067 – City Walk on Plywood with Stand

Wonderland Crafts FLW-067 City Walk is the widest piece in this group — five and a half inches of terraced street that stands on a paved base, with a carved picket fence and gate running along the front of it. Three Victorian houses share the row: slate-blue, dusty red and pale blue, with bay windows, gabled roofs, brick chimneys and warm yellow light behind every pane. It is a counted cross stitch kit on laser-cut plywood — one cut panel with the stitch holes drilled through, plus the fence and base as separate wooden parts, so there is no fabric, no hoop and no framing at any stage.

Finished size: 5.51″ × 3.54″ (14 × 9 cm) · Stitch count: 80w × 50h · 14 count · 22 colors

Working on Plywood

A pre-drilled grid matters most on a wide panel like this one: eighty stitches across is a long run for rows to stay straight on fabric, and here they cannot wander, because the holes were set when the board was cut. The count is 14, familiar Aida spacing, easy to work through even in the dense window sections. Twenty-two shades is the fullest palette in the series, and this design needs it — three houses in different colours, roofs and chimneys in their own tones, and the lit windows shifting from pale cream to deep gold, which is what gives the row its evening feel. Single-sided design: the reverse is left open while you work, backed with the felt or foam in the kit, then set into the stand behind the fence.

Unlike fabric work, the finished piece must stay dry. Do not wash, soak or steam it — plywood warps and the surface tint can stain. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it away from damp spots such as bathrooms and window sills.

Eighty by fifty stitches is a longer sit than the small ornaments, and what you get for it is a wide, low piece that suits a mantelpiece, a bookshelf edge or a hallway table and stays there all year. It appeals to anyone who likes Victorian architecture, and it lines up naturally with FLW-066 Way Home and FLW-069 Colorful Facades to build out a whole street.
