Wonderland Crafts Wooden Cross Stitch Kit FLW-064 – Summer House on Plywood

Wonderland Crafts FLW-064 Summer House is the brightest house in the series and it finishes as a solid three-dimensional cottage you can pick up in one hand. Two blue birds sit by a nest on one wall, butterflies drift over a flowering meadow on another, and the roof is worked as a dense flower bed in rose, yellow and blue beads. It is counted cross stitch and beading on laser-cut plywood: the walls and roof panels arrive cut to shape with every stitch hole drilled, so there is no fabric to hoop and nothing to frame — you stitch the pieces and then build the house.

Finished size: 2.56″ × 2.76″ × 2.17″ (6.5 × 7 × 5.5 cm) · Stitch count: 58w × 83h · 14 count · 16 colors · 918 beads

Working on Plywood

The board does the measuring: holes at a fixed step mean the stitches sit level, the panels stay true to size, and the walls still meet properly when you assemble them. It is a 14 count grid, the density most stitchers know from Aida, and the beads share the same holes as the floss. Sixteen shades is the widest palette in this group of houses, and it shows in the birds' plumage and the mixed flowers rather than in any one large area of colour; the 918 beads then sit on top of that, giving the roof and the borders real relief. Single-sided design — you stitch the outer face only, and the reverse disappears inside the finished house.

Unlike fabric work, the finished piece must stay dry. Do not wash, soak or steam it — plywood warps and the surface tint can stain. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it away from damp spots such as bathrooms and window sills.

A generous amount of beading, so allow several sittings — and at the end you have an object that stands on a shelf, a garden-room windowsill or a kitchen dresser rather than another unfinished start. It reads as summer but nothing in it dates to a single week, so it can stay out well past August. Companion pieces: FLW-062 Spring House, FLW-063 Halloween House, FLW-061 Christmas House.
