Wonderland Crafts Wooden Cross Stitch Kit FLW-062 – Spring House on Plywood

Wonderland Crafts FLW-062 Spring House assembles into a small three-dimensional cottage that stands about two and a half inches high — a finished object for a shelf or a spring mantel, not a panel waiting to be framed. The theme runs on bees: pale blue walls with bumblebees in flight, a honeycomb window, a sunflower, sprigs of pink blossom along the eaves, and a roof beaded in gold and yellow like a comb full of honey. It is counted cross stitch and beading on laser-cut plywood — the walls and roof come as separate cut pieces with the holes drilled through, so nothing needs hooping, stretching or mounting; the parts join together at the end.

Finished size: 2.56″ × 2.76″ × 2.17″ (6.5 × 7 × 5.5 cm) · Stitch count: 58w × 83h · 14 count · 10 colors · 820 beads

Working on Plywood

Every hole is drilled before the kit leaves the workshop, so the stitch spacing is decided for you and the panels keep their exact dimensions — important on a piece that has to fit together into a box shape at the end. It is worked at 14 count, the same density as ordinary Aida, and the beads go onto the same grid as the stitches. Ten shades cover the sky-blue walls, the bees and the flowers; the 820 beads do the rest, outlining every edge and filling the roof, which is what gives the house its raised, textured surface rather than a flat stitched one. The design is single-sided, and the backs of the panels finish up inside the assembled house.

Unlike fabric work, the finished piece must stay dry. Do not wash, soak or steam it — plywood warps and the surface tint can stain. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it away from damp spots such as bathrooms and window sills.

The beading makes this slower than a flat ornament, but the payoff is a solid little building that stands on its own — out on display from the first warm week through summer, or up all year if you like bees. A good gift for beekeepers and honey lovers, and for anyone collecting the house series: FLW-064 Summer House, FLW-063 Halloween House and FLW-061 Christmas House cover the rest of the year.
