Wonderland Crafts FLW-060 Halloween Ginger Cat gives you a small standing group for the season — the kitten in the middle, a carved pumpkin on either side, all three slotting into an engraved base. The cat is a ginger tabby in an oversized black witch hat that flops over one ear, wearing a dark cape fastened with an orange spider clasp, round eyes wide open. It is a counted cross stitch kit on laser-cut plywood: each shape is cut to its outline with the stitch holes drilled through, so the board serves as fabric, hoop and frame in one.

Working on Plywood
Because the holes are drilled in advance, the grid is fixed before you start: stitches sit evenly, the count never slips, and the piece holds its shape without any tension of its own. The 14 count matches what most stitchers are used to on Aida — a comfortable size to see and to fill with the full six strands or fewer, as the chart directs. Fourteen shades go a long way here: the orange and amber tones build the tabby markings, and the same warm range comes back in the lit pumpkins, which is what ties the three pieces together visually. The design is single-sided, so the reverse remains open while you work and is covered with the felt or foam from the kit at the end, before assembly.
Unlike fabric work, the finished piece must stay dry. Do not wash, soak or steam it — plywood warps and the surface tint can stain. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it away from damp spots such as bathrooms and window sills.
At 43 by 85 stitches spread over three panels, this is a short project that ends with something standing on the shelf, not a half-worked square in a bag. A natural gift for anyone with a ginger cat at home, and small enough to sit on an office desk through October without taking over the space.
