Size 26 is the most versatile cross stitch needle size — it fits cleanly through 14 ct, 16 ct, and 18 ct Aida as well as 28–36 ct evenweave and linen, which covers the vast majority of counted cross stitch kits and patterns. These are tapestry-style needles with a blunt rounded tip and a gold-plated eye. The blunt tip slides between fabric threads without splitting them, keeping stitches clean and the fabric intact. The gold-plated eye adds contrast against the silver shaft, making it easier to spot which end to thread, and provides a smoother surface for the floss to pass through. If you stitch primarily on lower-count fabrics like 11 ct Aida, the thicker size 24 from the same line may feel more comfortable; for finer fabrics like 20+ ct, a size 28 will pass through the holes more easily.
