Kolorova Thread Embroidery Kit on Wood D-06 – Magic Owls

Kolorova D-06 Magic Owls is a thread embroidery kit on laser-cut wooden bases that produces a vertical hanging owl garland with three owls, decorative beads, and wooden charms. You pull DMC stranded cotton and metallic thread through pre-drilled holes around the circular opening in each owl to create geometric patterns — radial sunburst and crosshatch fills in deep purple and gold (the technique is similar to string art but uses pre-drilled holes instead of nails). The three finished owls are then linked together with cord and Preciosa glass beads, with a wooden star between and a crescent moon charm at the bottom. This is a beginner-friendly thread embroidery project: the technique is simple threading and wrapping, and the detailed PDF instructions walk you through every step with photos.

Project Notes

Each owl is worked separately — wrap the thread through the holes around the circular cutout following the pattern, then glue the felt backing to the reverse for a clean finish. Once all three are done, string them together with cord, beads, and the wooden charms to form the garland.
